AA Rescue Limited Chairman, Mr. Otonye Efebo, Honored with Patronship Award, OLYO Proposal; Supports Osapa London Youth Initiatives with ₦1 Million Donation, Scholarships, Champions Education
The Executive Chairman of AA Rescue Limited, Mr. Otonye Efebo, on Wednesday 26, February 2025 warmly welcomed the executives of the Osapa London Youth Organization (OLYO) during their official visit to present him with a “Patronship Award” and discuss their “100 Participants Monthly Environmental Sanitation Proposal.” Expressing deep gratitude for the recognition, Mr. Efebo commended the initiative and emphasized the need for additional environmental projects, such as tree planting, to enhance the community’s ecosystem.
He highlighted the numerous benefits of tree planting, including improving air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration, providing shade to reduce excessive heat, preventing soil erosion, and fostering mental well-being by creating a greener and more serene environment.
• Osapa London’s Transformation: From Slum to Thriving Community
Reflecting on the past, Mr. Efebo recalled how Osapa London was once a neglected slum covered with thick bushes, making movement within the community extremely difficult. He shared a personal anecdote about declining a land offer in the area due to its poor condition at the time. However, he marveled at the rapid development Osapa London has experienced over the years, stating, “Who would have thought that Osapa London would transform so quickly into what it is today?”
• Commitment to Education and Human Capital Development
Known for his unwavering commitment to social advocacy and human capital development, Mr. Efebo passionately emphasized the importance of education for every child in Osapa London.
“No child in Osapa London should be out of school. Education is a necessity, and I would not feel fulfilled if I did nothing about it. The passion to support the youth and invest in their future continues to burn within me,” he stated.
To reinforce his commitment, Mr. Efebo made several impactful pledges:
• Initiating a Summer Lesson Program for students within the community.
• Prioritizing the reintegration of out-of-school children into the education system.
• Awarding three scholarships to students enrolled in federal institutions across Nigeria who are facing financial difficulties.
• Donating ₦1 million to support the activities and projects of the Osapa London Youth Organization (OLYO).
• OLYO: Vision, Challenges, and Government Recognition
The President and Convener of OLYO, Comrade Rilwan Muritala Eletu-Odibo, provided insights into the formation, objectives, and challenges of the organization.
He noted that despite Osapa London’s modern infrastructure and architectural advancements, the community still lags in human capital development. This gap led to the establishment of OLYO in 2020, with the goal of fostering youth empowerment, education, and community development.
However, he acknowledged the challenges faced during the organization’s early years, particularly the bureaucratic delays in obtaining government approval, which were further exacerbated by the COVID-19 global lockdown.
An All-Inclusive Youth Organization
Comrade Rilwan emphasized that OLYO is open to all members of the community, regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, or religion. He stressed that inclusivity and unity remain the core principles of the organization.
He further highlighted the support of key community leaders, stating, “We are officially recognized by the government and work closely with the community head, High Chief Abdulwaheed Eletu-Odibo, and Amb. Dr. Prince Kazeem Austin Eletu-Odibo, both of whom have fully embraced our vision, with the latter even accepting to be our patron.”
• Presentation of Patronship Award
During the official presentation of the Patronship Award, Comrade Rilwan, on behalf of all OLYO members, expressed profound appreciation to Mr. Efebo for his outstanding contributions to society and his dedication to the development of Osapa London.
With Mr. Efebo’s generous support and visionary leadership, Osapa London is set to experience even greater advancements in environmental sustainability, education, and youth development.
