Today June 12, on Nigeria’s Democracy Day, we commemorate not just a date in history, but a shared journey of courage, resilience, and unyielding hope for a better nation. June 12 stands as a symbol of the people’s voice, the right to be heard, the right to choose, and the right to demand a government that truly serves.
As we reflect on the significance of this day, we pay tribute to the Nigerian Army, brave men and women who continue to salute our flag with unwavering loyalty, risking their lives to secure our borders, protect our communities, and uphold national unity. Their dedication reminds us that patriotism is not only declared, it is lived.
At the same time, we recognize the courage of the Nigerian people, past and present, who protest peacefully for justice, equity, and accountability. These voices, calling for better governance, transparency, and true democracy, are not voices of dissent, but echoes of a collective dream for a Nigeria where no one is left behind.
We, the members of Osapa London Youth Organization (OLYO), stand at this vital intersection. Inspired by the soldier’s salute and the citizen’s protest, we commit ourselves to nation-building. We will raise our voices responsibly, serve our community diligently, and hold ourselves to the highest standard of integrity. We believe that democracy is not complete without active participation, and we pledge to be part of the solutions that Nigeria needs.
On this Democracy Day, we call on every Nigerian, young and old, soldier and civilian, home and abroad, to unite for the common good. Let us honor those who fought for this freedom by building a more just, secure, and prosperous Nigeria.
Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬
Long live the Republic.
Long live our shared dreams.
